Go Curlin Go!

2007 Arkansas Derby winner Curlin set a new Derby  record before more than 56,000 people on April 14. Now he is the favorite to win the Kentucky Derby on the first Saturday in May—repeating the path blazed by America’s favorite Smarty Jones.

Oaklawn Jockey Club in Hot Springs has worked with CJRW for more years than we’ve been in existence—Wayne Cranford and Jim Johnson handled the account before starting their own agency in 1961. Today, we are extremely proud of the success Oaklawn enjoys despite strong competition from gaming in neighboring states and an attendance slump at other horseracing tracks. You’ll find more people at Oaklawn on a Saturday during January through April, than you will at every other track in America combined.

UPDATE: Curlin got caught up in the field of the Kentucky Derby, due to a poor post postion, and still managed to come in third behind Street Sense, and Hard Spun (both horses with Oaklawn connections). The Preakness Stakes saw Curlin charge past Street Sense by a nose at the finish, with Hard Spun placing third this time. Curlin currently is the favorite for the Belmont, and looks to repeat the success of past Arkansas Derby Champions Smarty Jones and Afleet Alex, by winning two-thirds of the Triple Crown.
